2. He has a knack for finding the back of the net, scoring in a variety of ways; he is one of the top goal scorers in this draft
3. Has very good passing skills; he regularly passes to and through the royal road area of the offensive zone, forcing the defenders and netminder to adjust to the changing angle
Area’s for Improvement
1. His first couple of steps need to get quicker
2. He sometimes overshoot the puck carrier when the opposition has the puck, which can be a pain as his acceleration isn’t the best in order to get back.
Scouting Report:
Chaz Lucius is the best goal scorer on the U.S. NTDP squad; he has a lethal shot and crafty hands in tight. Lucius is an electrifying goal scorer, combining excellent hands with an even better shot. He can get high-danger shots off from anywhere on the ice, including off the rush, and with a wicked release, Lucius doesn’t need much time or space to unleash the puck. His offensive instincts are off the charts, and he knows exactly where he needs to be on the ice to capitalize. Lucius has tremendous hockey sense and has the ability to read the play and put himself in the right place at the right time shows how intelligent he is. His playmaking abilities are not talked about enough; Lucius knows where his teammates are on the ice, and when he can feed them cleanly, he will. The dynamic forward creates and dictates play every time he steps onto the ice. Lucius is a solid defensive player as well, using his instincts and vision to disrupt opponents. The one knock on Lucius at the moment would be his skating, but that is not a huge issue as long because of his scoring ability and elite IQ. As of right now, no forward is head and shoulders above the rest, so for that reason, Lucius could make a case to be a high pick in the upcoming draft.
