KASPER HALTTUNEN

Related: Will Smith

Kasper Halttunen is a force to be reckoned with in regard to both his offensive capabilities and physical style. He possesses a strong and powerful one-timer along with a quick wrist shot.
He’s got a wonderful blend of skill, size, and power. I think he’s in the formative stages of just getting comfortable with his game. Halttunen looked like a man amongst boys at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, where he put up 3 points in 5 games and was a dominant play-driving force. He’s already got a pro-built frame at 6’3/207, and his game is already TaylorMade for the NHL as a power forward. Halttunen is a big right-handed winger with a perfect shot and the ability to play a power game. The big Finnish winger started the season with HIFK U20, putting up 7 goals and 12 points in 9 games before being moved to the HIFK team to play in the Pro League. Kasper Halttunen has the potential to develop into a unique player that can be both a power forward and goal scorer in the NHL and could be a top 10 pick in the draft next year.

Scouting Report

Kasper Halttunen spent last season with Jokerit’s U20 team, notching 24 goals and 38 points in 41 games, which is a great statline for a draft-1 player. The situation with Jokerit is very unsure at the moment, so Halttunen made the jump to another Helsinki team, HIFK. He started the season with HIFK U20, putting up 7 goals and 12 points in 9 games, and has already played in 8 games with the Pro team in Liiga. Halttunen is a right-handed winger whose biggest weapon is his arsenal of goal-scoring skills. While Halttunen can use his wicked wrist shot to score with direct shots off the rush, he can also score in many other ways, such as dirty goals from in front of the net, as his 6-3, 207 pound frame helps him to drive there. Halttunen can throw hits and protect the puck well with his size and skates well for a player his size. Halttunen handles the puck smoothly, and he can surprise many with his great passing ability. He’s also a real powerplay force as he can score with his great one-timer or he could also make a living in the front of the next as a net-front presence due to his frame. Kasper Halttunen is comparable to Corey Perry in terms of playstyle, who is mostly a power forward but in his prime was also a pretty deal goal scorer as well. Kasper Halttunen is a great goal scorer with a strong offensive toolkit and has real potential to become a 1st round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
