VIGGO BJORCK: Sweden’s Scoring Sensation

Viggo Björck is quickly emerging as one of the most electrifying prospects for the 2026 NHL Draft. He’s a cerebral, high-IQ forward who blends elite playmaking with a scorer’s instinct.
Let’s breakdown what makes him one of the most compelling prospects in the draft.

Described as a “cerebral tactician”, Björck reads the ice exceptionally well and creates plays with precision. He’s a right-shooting center/wing with elite edgework, deceptive puck control, and a knack for finding seams others miss. In the 2023–24 J18 Region season, Björck shattered records with 98 points (33 goals, 65 assists) in just 36 games. – He followed that up with a dominant J20 Nationell season, posting 74 points (27 goals, 47 assists) in 42 games—despite being one of the youngest players. On the international stage, he led Stockholm Nord to victory in the prestigious TV-pucken tournament, scoring the overtime winner in the final. – At the 2025 U18 World Championship, he was Sweden’s youngest player but still posted 8 points in 7 games, helping the team earn silver.

Listed at just 5’9″ and weighing 172 pounds, Björck had a versatile forward, who plays bigger than his size and is fearless in puck battles and net drives. For him to continue to stand out against older competition is truly impressive as he continues to elevate his game and consistency. He’s only 5-foot-9, but Björck’s high end IQ, skillset, slick puck control and playmaking makes him a force to be reckoned with. An Elite-level thinker, he reads plays well and manipulates defenders smartly; he’s quick, agile, and deceptive; uses edgework and turnbacks to shake coverage. Viggo has exceptional vision and timing; creates space and sets up teammates with precision. Björck is a slick puck control, can dangle in tight spaces and execute under pressure; has a deceptively powerful wrist shot and accurate even in traffic. His hands are incredible, his ability to read the ice is top-notch, and the way he can find holes in the opponent’s defense and create plays to get through it is going to be incredibly valuable. On the Defensive side of the puck, he is active on the PK, anticipates passes and supports down low. Bjorck can play with the puck on his string and make plays as a natural facilitator who has a ton of poise and vision, but he also plays in and out of give-and-gos, will go to the net and finish off plays and has great overall sense on and off the puck. He’s also a quick and fast skater who can play at different paces and challenge both in straight lines and on cuts and turnbacks. He can score in a variety of ways and he’s going to often be a favorite linemate with how much extra time he can create to make plays.

For him to continue to stand out against older competition is truly impressive as he continues to elevate his game and consistency. He’s only 5-foot-9, but Björck’s high end IQ, skillset, slick puck control and playmaking makes him a force to be reckoned with. Comparable to Elias Pettersson for vision and playmaking, Brayden Point for pace and two way play. He has top 5 potential, possibly No.2 behind Gavin McKenna depending on team needs and fit. A team that
values cerebral playmakers and can surround him with complementary size and speed, like the Boston Bruins or New York islanders, who can use a dynamic center to build around.
